Shared data – a foundation for connecting libraries in the digital era
As digital transformation continues to develop, data is no longer just an individual resource of each library. When properly standardized, connected, and effectively used, it can become a shared resource for the entire library sector. Data sharing helps readers access more information, reduces duplication in cataloging and document processing, and contributes to more effective use of library resources.
One of the key issues raised was that, to enable data connection and sharing, libraries need to pay attention to data quality, consistency in document descriptions, compatibility between systems, and procedures for exchanging and updating information. Besides technology, establishing cooperation mechanisms, defining responsibilities in data management, and ensuring access rights and copyright protection are also important.
Discussions at the conference showed that digital transformation in library operations is not simply about investing in software or developing online search portals. It requires close coordination between professional standards, technology infrastructure, data management, and cooperation among institutions.

Gaining knowledge and professional experience through networking and learning
Through attending the conference, LHU Library representatives had the opportunity to update their knowledge of current issues in the library sector, learn about trends in shared data development, and listen to practical experiences shared by experts, managers, and colleagues in the field. During the thematic sessions, topics such as data management, information resource organization, and improving access to and use of digital resources were discussed from different perspectives. This provided the representatives with more information about the requirements for library development in the context of digital transformation.
The knowledge and information gained from the conference will be useful references for LHU Library to review its current operations and consider suitable solutions in the coming time. In addition to professional knowledge, the event also created opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and sharing experiences among library staff from different institutions.
Attending this event reflects the LHU Library staff's active learning, commitment to updating their knowledge, and efforts to strengthen professional connections. It also provides an opportunity for staff to gain more experience, improve their professional work, and better meet the learning, teaching, and research needs of LHU lecturers and students.
